How Does It Work?
If you’ve never bred your Italian Greyhound, the whole process of breeding can seem rather daunting. Fortunately, Little Iggys have over 20 years of experience with dog breeding and are the leading expert in Italian Greyhound dog breeding.
We’ve created a quick four-step guide to educate our clients on the Italian Greyhound stud dog process. Check it out below!
Step 1.
The first step is to wait for your female to go into heat. This typically takes place twice per year and is identified via blood spotting
Step 2.
Next, it’s important to have some progesterone tests. This ensures she is bred at the correct time to maximise the chances of a litter.
Step 3.
Once the progesterone tests are complete, it’s time to mate your Italian Greyhound. This is usually done via artificial insemination
Step 4.
Finally, you’ll wait around 9 weeks before she gives birth. During this time, you can have an ultrasound scan to see if she is pregnant.
